A heavily influential grunge trend - Tartan

Tartan

Is it just me or has everyone suddenly gone mad again for plaid recently? From pants to miniskirts, statement coats to oversized scarves and shirts, the timeless print has forever been on fire, and there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon. Tartan has always been a favourite of mine, it's been the most influential print to date, whether you prefer a red, green or blue, it keeps coming back season after season.
No matter what your style, you can wear tartan in loads of fashionable ways.  My favourite would be the 90's grunge look (with a twentieth century twist). Tartan can be that perfect print to help pull an entire outfit together. However, how can we fit tartan into our everyday lives? It's a trend that may seem a little scary to wear but it's more accessible than you'd think. Keep reading and I’ll show you how to wear plaid that speaks best to you.

Last Friday afternoon I met up with an old friend of mine who happens to be a talented photographer (life and its perks). After speaking about the tartan trend we decided to shoot a grunge looking photo shoot, I'd just eaten so excuse my little food baby (forever and always). Last fall I couldn't get enough  of the relaxed street style, however, with the sunshine making an appearance... how could I not resist getting my adorable Missguided body con out of the wardrobe again?! Surprisingly this dress goes amazing in both winter and summer weather due its high polo neck style.
We were lucky enough to have nice weather that day, however, I still paired the dress up with some knee high socks, a grey beanie hat and some black ankle boots.
Whether it's an oversized flannel shirt tied around your waist, or a more elegant plaid piece thrown together with a blazer and enveloped clutch, tartan will always do its job in making whatever outfit you put together look stylish. With the right colour scheme, you can't go wrong. You can easily piece together an amazing outfit without looking too loud.

If you're interested in getting a portfolio together I highly recommend Liverpool based photographer, Callum Mathews! Here are his details.
