Back to black...

"My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dress" - Audrey Hepburn

World famous stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn have always been memorable for being fashion icons; however, for me… it’s all about Audrey. So why do I love Audrey Hepburn’s style so much? Let me count the reasons: she is the queen of charm, what she wore a half century ago is still to this day in style and nobody will ever rival to look downright feminine in tomboy staples. I could go on; Audrey is by far my favourite fashion icon to date (brunettes for the win).
Here's a few of my favourite snaps of Audrey!

Audrey is one of the 20th century’s most recognizable style icons, and for good reason. The famous actress and model had a consistent classy style throughout her whole life that oozed class. When I think of Audrey Hepburn, I think about the little black dress with the elegant tailored pieces and simple colour palettes that she wore in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She also styles the outfit up with a tiara, large sunglasses and with her hair swept up in a French twist.

When people picture the iconic actress, they think of grace, elegance, class and style. She obviously knew what looked good on her and what didn't. For many women, including myself, capturing Audrey’s style carries on to be a high-point of timeless grace and elegance. Here are some suggestions to help…

Ballet pumps -

Ballet pumps are one of most famous style choices for Audrey. She was often photographed wearing flat shoes, usually simple black ballet flats. Casual lady.

Tailored black cigarette pants -

During Audrey’s fame, it was very common for women to wear pants. High waist tailored pants are very in fashion right now, especially pattern floral designs. This style works amazing with basic tops and a white blouse.

The little black dress -

Audrey’s most famous role was in Breakfast at Tiffany’s where she famously wore that amazing, elegant little black dress. This style will forever be in trend, you can never go wrong in a little black dress.

Polo neck style -

The polo neck jumper is one of Audrey’s statement looks and one of my favourites to date. You honestly can’t go wrong in this basic style because of the universal dark colour and flattering shape. It brings attention straight to your face!

Striped shirt -

Simple striped shirts are a great way to look classy and sophisticated at all times. Audrey looked stunning in this simple design and her tailored black pants to match.

Over sized sunglasses -

Whether it was the 50’s or 80’s, Audrey was photographed often wearing large sunglasses. Her shades also had a subtle cat eye shape to them. This shape is very in fashion right now (I purchased the most amazing pair from Asos last week, I cannot wait to wear them on my holidays).

A simple white shirt -

Who doesn't love a crisp white shirt? Audrey Hepburn sure did. The white button down blouse creates a carefree look, very casual and stylish might I just add.

Patterned pants -

Patterned pants are very in fashion right now, I especially love all the beautiful floral designs they have in stores at the moment. Audrey kept hers classic with stripes that fitted around her ankle with a high waist style!

Neck scarfs -

One of Audrey’s signature looks was the neck and head scarf. She always co-ordinated the colours with her pants, very grease lightening.

And last but not least.... her perfectly sculptured eyebrows. Thick yet feminine. A girl can dream..

Throughout Audrey’s career, her natural beauty captivated the world on screen and off. She had a unique glamour about her that was modest and unquestionable. From her hairstyle to heavily black lined eyes, Audrey has influenced my clothing to this day, and will probably carry on influencing me for the rest of my life.
