A better you

Dear reader,

Happy new year!

It's a time when, traditionally, we make promises and resolutions to be "new" in the next twelve months. You know the drill...

  1. Join the gym, eat healthily and loose weight.
  2. Stop all the drinking/smoking.
  3. Get a better job/start a career.
  4. Find your true love and live happily ever after.
  5. Travel the world.
Sure these are great goals. However, they are all good things to do any time of the year. To say "this will be the new me" says the old you is no longer relevant and out of order?

This is D*gshit.

We seem to believe that we need to be a "new us" to be the person that we are meant to be. Like going to the gym and getting bigger biceps or a tinier waist will suddenly make everything go away? Because in truth, why should they go away in the first place?

Our faults, our flaws, our broken promises, our failures. These are the things that will make us who we are and who we will become. If we didn't have these flaws, how could we possibly measure how far we have come. I have made many mistakes in my life, and I will carry on making them until the end, and I don't regret a single one.

Forget the "new year, new me" thing. Go with something that is true, something that is real. Something that is you. But hey? don't get me wrong, by all means, improve you, grow you, revisit you and remould you to be the new you that you will truly be proud of.

I generally believe that the world throws challengers at us to grow and develop into the wiser and much stronger versions of ourselves. Hold onto your dreams, listen to your favourite music, and get lost in a beautiful book. Do the things that make you happy, and surround yourself with the people that truly make you feel good. Create your own sunshine, and hopefully 2018 will be a brand new beginning for all of us. So here's to you, and your beautiful imperfect self.

I hope you all have an amazing start to the new year. And remember, remain an Audrey Hepburn in a world full of kardashians.

Red sequins

Dear reader,

I thought it's about time I let you know a few things about myself.

Being a women who wears her heart on her sleeve can come with it's own benefits and challenges. I appreciate simplicity and I notice all the details. I am sensitive, organised and I tear up at every cute movie moment, especially if it's animated. I remember the small details and I care deeply. I enjoy people watching far too much and I am known to listen to the same song over and over and over again until I annoy every single person around me. But most of all, I have a massive heart who is obsessed with cute miniature versions of shampoo bottles and penguins.

It should go without saying, but sequins make a major statement and need to be used carefully. If you are going to bite the bullet and go for a head to toe dress covered in bling than stick with one colour (black, gold, silver and red are classically gorgeous). People are definitely going to be looking at you when you are covered in sparkles, and you don't want their first thought to be "where's the rest of it?". Don't get carried away with the glam, there's nothing subtle about body glitter girls. Less is more and there are plenty of subtle ways to do it.

I hope you have had an amazing Christmas and a happy new year!

One way ticket to la la land

"What we have here is a dreamer, Someone completely out of touch with reality"

Dear reader,

I'll be the first to admit that my head is in land daydream the majority of the time. I love learning, but the stories that take place in my own head are more appealing to my wandering soul. I am that person that people think is 'timid', the individual who sits quietly and stares straight ahead whenever the moment allows. I am the one who looks forward to gazing longingly out of a window with my headphones in when traveling. I avoid small talk because it takes time away from me seeking refuge in my own imagination. People think I am afraid to speak, however, the truth is that I am constantly drawn into myself. I have great friends because I care deeply and I love unintentional. I am comfortable in my own silence and above all, I am that person who wants to cradle and put the broken pieces back together. I am the fool that dreams

I am completely addicted and in awe with head to toe black at the moment. Something about it is so delicious and appealing. It's sharp, it's chic and it's god damn powerful. Oh and it looks fantastic on just about everyone. I also love a good blazer, and the one above does it all for me.

So cheers to all the daydreamers, carry on being beautiful and let me let you in on a little secret: no dream is too big or too small, even if you have to start it alone.

Blown away and back again

Dear reader,

I think everyone of us has their own version of too good to be true kind of wishes. Wishes that we don’t dare to ask  because it seems to good to be true if it happens, wishes that seem like the world will have to turn itself inside out just to make it come true. I used to be confident on what actually lied ahead for me. But lately my dreams have changed and my visions for the future have gone blurry.

You may have noticed things have been quiet around here for some time. I haven't forgot about my beloved blog, however, I have had some head clearing and planning to do. This past year has been a full one, with challenges, surprises and lessons. Old relationships coming to an end, and new relationships starting. I can truly say that over the past year, I have definitely found who I want to be. I am not the girl you used to know anymore, and I am proud of that. With all that I have learned this year, I take away with me something better than success - experience. I am inspired and motivated to have an excellent 2018, with my family, my friends, and my work colleagues, only the sky is the limit. The most precious thing we have is time, so I don't plan on wasting anymore of it.

A lot can change within a year, and even though winter is by far my least favourite season, I still think it's a great time for creativity and new beginnings. The clocks have gone back, the temperature is steadily dropping, whether you are currently wrapped in a blanket on your couch or out exploring the world, there's wintery inspiration all around us.

I will be spending the beginning of my winter in Paris with some wonderful friends, and that honestly makes me so happy. One of my dreams was to go to Paris, France. I have wanted to go since I was a little girl, watching old movies with my father. There was always a scene where there is romance or happiness and that scene would always take place in the beautiful capital of France. Besides, I would absolutely love to see the Eiffel Tower with my own eyes and see all the city art and cultures (and food, let's not forget about the glorious food). I will be counting down the days until I go.

The beauty of life is that you can wake up one day and make a decision to change. To become a better you. Enjoy the last of this mild weather, and brace yourself for a glorious cold winter.

Summertime sadness

Hey guys!

I hope you are all well. I've once again fell behind on the blogging world, I seem to get far too distracted lately. However, I came across some new fashion social networks, and they've seemed to have inspired me to write about what I love again.

Today's post is a very rare occasion. I'm wearing jeans. I never ever wear jeans, and I forever get told off for it. I just never understand when people say "I'm a jeans and T-shirt type of girl.", like being this kind of girl implies that they are low maintenance and they are easy to wear, comfortable clothing. Guess what's low maintenance? a dress. Once single piece of material. There's nothing worse than going out for food and feeling like your top button of your skinny jeans are about to pop open and expose that food baby you're trying so hard to hide, I generally have zero time for that.

Since I was a child I've hated my legs, I've always found them to be very bulky, short and muscular (I like to call when footballers legs), and for this reason I've always stayed clear away from wearing jeans. I owned one pair growing up and I hated them. Don't get me wrong though, I love a good pair of skinny jeans, just not on myself. I tend to stick with high waist jeans/jeggings if I was to wear them, I feel like they're more flattering for my shape.

Another reason why I really dread shopping for jeans is because I struggle to get a nice fit. They're either too big on my waist line, or too long on my leg. I honestly have a nightmare every time I consider going shopping for a "nice comfy" pair of jeans to go with a cute top, I end up coming out with a skirt or dress every time.

Bottom line though - always be proud of your muscle and body. I have struggled with the feeling that I have "fat legs" my whole life, just because celebrities and Hollywood have made us feel like we should look like Victoria Secrets models, doesn't mean it's true. Own your shape and love yourself.

Black and blue stripes

 Hey beauts!

I hope everyone's week has been as sunny as mine has been. I haven't quite managed to enjoy it because of work, however, the sunshine always puts a smile on my face. I'm also really enjoying not having to take a coat everywhere with me, oh the freedom.

As spring/summer edges closer and closer, now is the time to seriously start considering new-fashion styles. And what better way than stripes? whether they be vertical, horizontal, or a mad mix and max of both. The new collections are zigging with stripes of all shapes and sizes - for everyone's shape and size (did you see what I did there? I don't half amuse myself at times). Some of my favourites being, horizontal, vertical, ribbed jerseys, for night and day, and layered too. Don't you agree the simplest of ideas are always the best? Try dipping a toe into this amazing trend and consider it a fresh new start for this new sunny season.
Stripes have also taken the spring/summer 16 runways by storm in every style you could possibly imagine. Some ran thick vertical lines, whilst others thin horizontal. Clearly the stripes aren't going away anytime soon, and they have went far beyond your average navy-and-white ones we all love and know so much.

Above I am wearing a two piece from Zara. I was drawn to this little number as soon as I saw it in store, I love both the style and the colours. The peplum top goes perfect with the high rise shorts. I especially adore the perfect fit. I don't usually go for peplum, I always find it to be very unflattering on my body, however, this particular two piece changed my mind.

I paired the two piece with my Public Desire boots. I'm not quite ready to put my knee high's into the wardrobe just yet...

Thank you so much for taking your time reading again. I hope everyone's week has been enjoyable so far. I'm currently moaning about my impacted wisdom teeth, they're literally the worst ever and they are seriously getting on my last nerve.

Spring has sprung

Hey lovelies!

Long time no speak ey? I'm sure you're all wondering where I've been the last month and a half, but I won't bore you with the details. I've basically turned myself into a creature of the night, waiting for the sunshine to make an appearance so I can finally start feeling myself again. However, I've came out of hibernation now and I've finally returned to the real world with some exciting ideas for the blog and my social networks. It's been an unusual few weeks for me, I've weirdly grown up in the tiniest amount of time. I'm concentrating fully on creating a good life for myself now, and hopefully leaving all negativity behind me where it belongs.

So, how exactly are you meant to wear this Springs sweetest shade? I thought I'd share my current love right now, pastel pink.

An array of amazing milky tones dominate this Springs palette. It's a slight update to the last sugary pastels that massively impacted the previous seasons. The key shade however, would be the subtle pink, tinted with a hint of peach for a much warmer overall appearance.

I've always been a lover of black (as you're all probably aware), however, I've really caught onto the nude/pink toned trend. I find it so gorgeous and flattering against all skin tones. The outfit I put together above is by far my favourite to date. I absolutely love the tones of pink in both the leather skirt and the coat.

I promised myself that I wouldn't buy anymore jackets seeing as the weather is getting clearer, but when I came across the nude suede coat a few weeks ago, I couldn't resist. The material isn't very thick so I can imagine getting some use out of it during the colder summer days. It features a collar, lapel, statement buttons and pockets on both sides. The fabric is beautiful and it has a soft stretch for the most perfect flattering fit.

The midi skirt is faux leather and is incredible comfy considering it's skin tight. It comes with a cute waist belt and a slit going down the right leg. I styled it with my elegant white body suit and white barely there pointed heels. I wasn't very sure whether it would look right on me when I first purchased but I fell in love as soon as I tried it all on together.

If you're interested in buying any of the items I am wearing, you can purchase them right now online.

I've just recently started reading 'Me before you' and it's safe to say, I shouldn't have bothered. I'm an absolute sucker for romance, however, this read is horrifically heart breaking. If there was an award for the biggest emotional wreck, I would have won hands down. The story however, is beautifully written and I would highly recommend to anyone who can handle both tears of joy and sadness.

Thank you so much for taking your time reading again. I hope everyone's week has been enjoyable so far. I'm currently moaning about my impacted wisdom teeth, they're literally the worst ever and they are seriously getting on my last nerve.
